HOUSTON - U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee is the primary guest on this week’s "Houston Newsmakers with Khambrel Marshall."
There is much to talk about and she does not shy away from any topic, including the U.S. cruise missile attack against Syria.
”The strike was a proposal given by the National Security team. This was really driven by the military,” the 18th District Democrat said. “And I have great respect for our military but you need to have a civilian policy.
What are you doing with the people who are fleeing? Where’s your refugee policy? Where’s your humanitarian policy?”
When asked if the budget President Donald Trump has proposed is a reflection of how the American people voted, Jackson Lee replied, “Oh absolutely not. They voted for fiscal responsibility but they didn’t vote to eliminate port security grants, which is so crucial to the Houston Port.”
Also discussed were health care reform, national security, the challenge of working across the aisle, what is working among the Texas congressional delegation and much more.
In advance of National DNA Day, Bennett Greenspan, CEO of Family Tree DNA, a Houston-based company, says people's curiosity about DNA is a natural progression from the desire to know more about our family history and its importance. “We can attach your DNA to the tree of mankind, which would take you all the way back to Africa, 60, 70, 80,000 years ago.”
"Houston Newsmakers with Khambrel Marshall," Sunday at 10 a.m. right after "Meet the Press" on KPRC Channel 2.
