When will we hit 90 degrees?

Will cool Houston weather continue?

HOUSTON – I had a viewer ask about our high temperatures this year, given that we haven't hit 90 degrees yet.  BUT, we have. We actually reached a record 90 on March 18!

I reached out to the National Weather Service since we haven't reached 90 since then.  They sent these facts my way (thanks to Scott Overpeck!).

Scott said, "The latest start to 90F for Houston Bush/IAH is June 15 in 1897.  The average date to hit 90F each year is May 3 (but this year we tied a record low on that date!).  The latest date we've ever reached 91F is July 7, 1961."

So, the real question my viewer was asking is,  "What is the latest date for our first 90-degree day?"  The answer to that question is June 15!  It looks like we might get there this weekend as temperatures soar toward summer!  But you have to admit... our recent break from the heat has been nice!
