Weekend weather looks warmer than normal

Overriding trend of above-normal temperatures continues in southeast Texas

HOUSTON – Plan for spectacular weekend weather as we kick off the month of February! Whatever your plans -- a nice long run, a bike ride, one of your kids' ball games, yard work, or any other outdoor venture -- you'll be in great shape.

Temperatures will be warm and rain will stay away, so if you're planning a car wash, it'll be a great weekend for that, too.

A weak trough of low pressure will swing through southeast Texas on Saturday, which will bring us a few extra clouds, but the majority of our weekend will be dominated by high pressure over the state, and high pressure usually means quiet, sunny weather.

Temperatures on Saturday should top out in the mid-70s thanks to a light south breeze and partly cloudy skies.  By Sunday, temperatures may lag a bit, only making the low-70s.  The cooler (relatively speaking) temperatures come on the heels of a light NORTH breeze as high pressure filters in from the northwest.  Sunday promises lots of sunshine, so it'll be a beautiful day.

The normal high temperature for Houston in early February is 64 degrees.  We'll easily beat that this weekend and for the foreseeable future.
