HOUSTON – Wednesday is just the start of warmer weather for us. Morning lows were in the upper 60s. Afternoon highs will climb to the mid 80s with partly cloudy skies.
Fall is the season where cool, Canadian air battles with balmy, tropical air for control over the southeast Texas territory. For the foreseeable future, the Canadian air is going to get thumped.

Warm, humid weather will be the rule for the next week, at least. Cool fronts won't have the punch to dive far enough south to affect our weather, so temperatures will hover each afternoon in the upper 80s to 90 degrees. Morning lows will only dip 70, give or take a degree or two. On a typical mid-October day in Houston, high temperatures would be in the low 80s and lows would be in the low 60s.
This time of year, cold fronts that make their way through Houston are the most significant source of rain for the area. Because we're not expecting any fronts in the foreseeable future, our chance for rain remains slim. Aside from a few possible sprinkles or light rain showers Wednesday (only a 10 percent chance), we might get a handful of showers next week Monday, as a front should manage to edge as far south as Dallas. It will likely stall to our north, though, and keep the vast majority of the rain to our north as well.
