HOUSTON -

Temperatures are about to plunge into the 40s as the Siberian Express heads into Texas.

Winter storm warnings and watches are already in effect from the Hill Country to Dallas where freezing rain and sleet will fall to the Panhandle where 5 inches of snow is expected.

For us, the mercury drops beginning Thursday morning and continues through the day, so head out with a jacket because you'll need it.

On Friday, we add a cold rain into the mix and when we get to Friday night there is the chance for a winter mix north of Houston -- sleet, cold rain, a snowflake or two, and freezing rain are all possible.

We could see a bit more wintry mix on Saturday night.

The cold stays too for next week. We will clear out, but temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday morning fall into the 20s. Stay warm!
