Rain slams several Houston-area counties, flood advisory issued

Damaging wind and hail biggest threats from Friday's storms

HOUSTON – The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for Southwestern Liberty County, Southeastern Montgomery County, Northern Harris County, Northwestern Liberty County, Southeastern Walker County, San Jacinto County, Central Montgomery County and Southern Polk County until 2:15 a.m.

Strong storms moved through the Houston area late Friday afternoon and early Friday evening.  The strongest storms are now moving east of the metro area and will eventually cross into Louisiana, where a tornado watch has been issued.

There are several high water locations in Rosenberg.

We have received multiple videos of hail in the Magnolia area from KPRC2 viewers.

The storms on Friday produced hail as big as golf balls on Houston's south side, near Highway 288 and the south beltway.  Nearly four inches of rain fell in two hours near LaPorte, prompting the flash flood warning in southeastern Harris County.

Scattered showers will continue in parts of Houston and southeast Texas through mid evening Friday.  All rain should be gone by midnight at the latest.

By mid-evening, the heaviest rain will have moved east of the area.  Isolated storms will be possible after that, especially along the coast, but rain chances should end by midnight.
