Storms cause damage in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, texas – Strong storms Wednesday caused damage at businesses throughout Huntsville.

Much of the damage was along 11th Street.

An oak tree went through the roof of the Quick Pic convenience store about 8:45 a.m.

"I went in here to get me some Lemonheads, chewy Lemonheads, and as he was ringing me up all I heard was a boom and the lights went out," one customer said. "I thought they was dropping a bomb in here."

The owner of the store, Sam Patel, said he hopes to get the damage repaired quickly so he can reopen as soon as possible.

"We're waiting for people to clean the tree," he said.

A Firestone tire shop down the street also sustained severe damage to its roof.

"The wind started hitting us real hard and peeled off the backside of our roof back here," an employee said. "Our shop started filling up with water."

Thousands of people in the area lost power during the storms.

No serious injuries were reported.
