HOUSTON – It was an interesting past week in presidential politics as Gov. Mitt Romney seemed to run into several bumps on the road to the White House. Or did he?
Republican strategist Jessica Colon said it's President Barack Obama who should be in the spotlight for he is not doing on behalf of our country. Colon said where Obama is weak, a president Romney would be strong in leading the United States.
Not so fast!, said Gerry Birnberg, former chair of the Harris County Democratic Party. Birnberg said Romney, by talking when he shouldn't and then saying the wrong things when he does is one reason why the White House is in the best hands.
That's just part of the exchange between two passionate and focused proponents of their causes and candidates.
Also joining the panel this week is former Houston City Council Member Carroll Robinson, now a professor at Texas Southern University and second vice president of the Houston branch of the NAACP. Robinson and the NAACP is protesting the timing of the efforts to purge the voting rolls of presumed dead voters. He said with the election fast approaching, it shows a level of incompetence that should not be tolerated.
Robinson said there is reason for the minority community to be distrustful.
Almost $3 billion in bonds will be on the Harris County ballot in November! Houston Community College is asking for $425 million of that amount. HCC Board of Trustees Chair Mary Ann Perez and HCC Trustee Richard Schechter join Khambrel to make the case that the unprecedented growth of HCC warrants a yes from voters.
