WEATHER ALERT: Flash flood warning issued for Matagorda County

HOUSTON – A flash flood warning was issued Thursday for Matagorda County.

Below is the statement from the National Weather Service:

The National Weather Service in League City has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  West central Matagorda County in southeastern Texas...

* Until 1030 AM CDT.

* At 724 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. 2 to 4 inches of rain have
  already fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of up to 2 inches are
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is expected to begin
  shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Matagorda, southwestern Bay City, Palacios, South Texas Nuclear
  Plant and Wadsworth.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Today's forecast

Thursday will mark the last real day of rain before the Texas heat returns.

The forecast calls for scattered showers in the afternoon. 

The holiday weekend will be hot and dry. Temperatures will be between 94 and 96 degrees. Feels like temperatures will be between 100 and 106 degrees.
