HOUSTON – Scattered showers and storms will continue to dominate the weather picture in southeast Texas into the Labor Day weekend.
Heavy coastal rain Thursday morning and afternoon will taper off temporarily into Thursday evening. Showers may regenerate along the coast overnight and work inland on Friday.
Rain chances will be greatest Friday night and Saturday morning, with an abundance of Gulf of Mexico moisture pouring into the region. Isolated flooding is possible in coastal counties and east, into Louisiana, between Friday and Saturday evening.
Rain and cloud cover will continue to keep temperatures in check in the Houston area. Expect afternoon temperatures to hover in the upper 80s to low 90s through Sunday.
By Labor Day, drier air pushes into the region from the west. This will drop our chance for rain significantly for the last day of the holiday weekend. High temperatures, however, will bounce back into the mid 90s as a result.
