Looking at models just for Bush Intercontinental Airport, the GFS model has our low dropping to 48, and the NAM model is forecasting a low of 49 degrees. The record cold temperature for May 15 at Bush Airport is 49 degrees set in 1890.

Galveston is expected to be near their record low with a forecast temperature of 58 degrees. The record is 57 set in 1926.

For now, it appears College Station will be breaking their old record of 50 degrees set in 1942. Thursday morning is expected to bottom out at 48 degrees.

The cool down is thanks to a strong cold front that crawled through the region Tuesday. The colder air behind it has been filtering through the region Wednesday.

Combine that cold air mass with drier conditions and calm wind for Thursday, you have the right ingredients for a chilly morning.
