HOUSTON – Heavy downpours prompted several flood advisories in southeast Texas on Tuesday. While all advisories have been canceled and mainly quiet weather is expected Tuesday evening in Houston, more wet weather is on the way for Wednesday.

Scattered downpours could flare up as early as the morning commute on Wednesday, especially from Houston to the coast. More downpours are likely Wednesday afternoon, as daytime heating reaches its peak.
Rainfall totals will vary widely. Areas hardest hit could get in excess of three inches during the day, with minor street flooding possible.
Rainfall and cloud cover will keep temperatures in check in Houston, with high temperatures only reaching the low 90s in most places.
Scattered afternoon showers and storms will continue from Thursday into the weekend, but expect steadily decreasing rain chances each day.
Meanwhile, the heavy rain Tuesday caused many headaches for drivers. Highway 59 in Rosenberg was closed earlier Tuesday in both directions near Thompson Road due to high water.
One southbound and one northbound lane of US-59 was opened around 8:30 a.m. Half of the traffic was being let on the inside lanes to continue on U.S. 59 and half of the traffic was being diverted into Brazos Town Center.
Water receded quickly, officials said. Once the water was clear, the mud was cleaned off the road and lanes reopened around 8:45 a.m.
Water cleared off 59 at 762 along Richmond/Rosenberg line. Talk about a mess of a morning commute. @KPRC2 pic.twitter.com/hSEsQgc6jE
