Highs today above average; slight chance of thunderstorm activity

It has been a quiet start to the weekend; however, that will change late Sunday.

Saturday afternoon there is a slight chance of isolated rain or thunderstorm activity, especially for the Northern counties.

Highs today will be above average with Houston hitting 94 degrees this afternoon and Galveston at 89 degrees. It will be partly cloudy for the most part.

Heading into Sunday, some tropical moisture will start to inch in. There is a chance of rain and thunderstorms thanks to moisture from Tropical Storm Ingrid.

This chance of showers continues into Monday.

Some of the thunderstorms could produce periods of heavy rain and gusty winds. The other big hazard will be lightning.

Along the coast, strong thunderstorms could produce funnel clouds or even water spouts.

With the added cloud cover for Sunday and the start of the next work week, daytime highs will be dropping into the low 90s.
