Get ready for sharp warm-up this week

Temperatures will quickly shift to above-normal for rest of week

HOUSTON – Climatologically, on a "normal" day in the second week of October we'd wake up to a temperature of 63 degrees and have an afternoon high of 84 degrees.  Unless you've been living under a rock, the last two days have been significantly cooler than that!  Lows have been in the mid 50s and highs didn't even make 70 on Sunday.

After a short-lived cool spell, lasting only about 48 hours, we begin to warm up quickly this week.  The cool air will exit on Tuesday as quickly as it rushed in Saturday night.  Highs on Tuesday will reach the mid-80s and we'll make it to near 90 degrees by late in the week.  Morning lows will only dip to near 70, give or take, for the second half of the week.

For those of you not quite ready to hang up your jackets and put away your sweaters after our latest taste of fall, the outlook is not looking good.  The upcoming warm weather will be with us for the foreseeable future.  There are no cold fronts projected to make their way this far south for at least the next 10 days, so shorts and short sleeves will be common sights around town.
