Flash Flood Watch in effect for most of Southeast Texas

HOUSTON - A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for most of Southeast Texas until 7 p.m. Friday.

The National Weather Service issued the watch for the following counties: Austin, Brazoria, Brazos, Burleson, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Hardin, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, Walker, Waller and Washington.

Showers and thunderstorms moved across the northern half of southeast Texas Thursday night, producing locally heavy rainfall. Additional rounds of heavy rainfall are expected to develop through Friday with the activity gradually shifting southeast with time.

Average rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are expected across the watch area, with localized higher amounts also expected through Friday.
