Downpours could make for dicey Wednesday commute

HOUSTON – As of 10 p.m., the heaviest rains are well southwest of Harris County, but will begin spreading into the county by 2 a.m.

The west side of town will experience the heaviest rain from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m., eastern side from 7 a.m. to noon.

The bottom line is you should expect a messy commute no matter where you are (fog for coastal counties), and there is no watch, or warn, for widespread flooding.

The usual suspects, low-lying areas and feeder roads and those spots that have already had 1-3 inches of rain since Monday will be most vulnerable to some isolated flood issues.

Total rain through 8 a.m. will range from 3-4 inches southwest toward Wharton County, with an average of 1-2 inches in Harris County.

From 8 a.m. to afternoon, another 1-2 inches will bring our Wednesday totals in Harris County into the 3-4 inch range.

The area is vulnerable, just like Monday, to funnel clouds and small tornadoes as storms move through.
