HOUSTON -- Houstonians angry that they can't leave their loved ones at the gate are outraged some limo drivers can, Local 2 reports.
Some 700 limo drivers now have new security badges that give them the same access as many airport employees.
The idea is to give travelers who pay for extra convenience a little extra freedom without compromising security.
Critics of the plans said everyone should be allowed to meet their loved ones at the gate, but officials said it is too hard to screen everyone.
Houston Airport System spokesman Roger Smith said the access is available at both Hobby and Bush Intercontinental airports. However, a different badge is required for each airport.
