HOUSTON -- Houston's airports are getting ready for one of the busiest travel times of the year, KPRC Local 2 reported Tuesday.
Hobby and Bush Intercontinental airports have three different lanes so travelers can get through security at their own pace. One line is for expert travelers, one is for casual travelers and the other is for families with children or persons with special needs.
Officials said being prepared will help things go smoothly for everyone.
"A lot of problems is people not being ready by not having their boarding passes out, not having their Ids out, " said Leonard Compton of the Transportation Security Administration. "These are two things that the people (security) need to check before you can enter into the central security checkpoint."
Officials reminded travelers that there are many security measures in place that they will have to comply with, including taking off shoes to be screened.
"Any electronic items as far as laptop computers, PlayStations, Gameboys, things like that, remove them out of your bag. Have them placed aside in a separate bin. By the time you get up to the line, as far as pushing items down the table, you should be ready to move right on to the line."
