Dozens of Houston flights cancelled due to weather

Bush named 4th worst for cancelled flights

HOUSTONAs of Monday morning, nearly 70 flights have been cancelled at Bush Intercontinental Airport because of bad weather sweeping across the country. Nationwide, more than 2,000 flights were kept from their destination.

"It just keeps getting colder and colder and colder," said Jennifer Hennessey, of Houston.

Officials predicted that more than 90 million Americans are expected to be impacted by a powerful winter storm stretching from Texas all the way to New York.

Tim Jarvis was leaving Cypress Sunday evening to drive four hours to Eastland, Texas, located about 50 miles east of Abilene. He said he was dreading what was ahead.

"My wife said it is like 10 degrees, snowing and there are high winds," Jarvis said.

This powerful system is the same weather system that caused a huge, chain reaction pileup on Interstate 25 in Denver on Saturday.

As of late Sunday, Houston had cancelled 52 flights, making it the fourth-worst city in terms of cancelled flights on Flightaware.com.

Dallas was No. 1 with 328 flight cancellations.
