HOUSTON – A man was hit and killed Monday evening by a vehicle after his car ran out of gas on the South Loop.
The crash was reported about 6:35 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 610 between the Gulf Freeway and State Highway 225.

According to Houston police, a 45-year-old man pulled over his vehicle on the left shoulder of I-610 when the vehicle ran out of gas. They said the man was standing between his vehicle and the far left lane of the interstate when he was hit by a pickup, and then hit a second time by a car.
The man died at the scene.
No charges have been filed, police said.
The identity of the victim was not immediately released.
