HOUSTON – A woman was hit and killed Tuesday in a crash on the North Loop near the North Freeway.
Police said the 35-year-old victim was crossing the westbound lanes of Interstate 610 just before 6:30 a.m. when a white Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck hit her. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the victim did not yield to oncoming traffic.
The driver of the pickup stopped to help the woman, police said. Investigators said the driver did not show signs of intoxication and was questioned and released.
According to Houston Transtar, two lanes are blocked by the crash. Around 8:45 a.m., the transportation authority reported that the crash had been cleared and lanes reopened.
