Lauren Freeman

Anchor

Lauren Freeman joined KPRC Local 2 in March 2006 to anchor Local 2 News at 5 a.m., 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. on weekdays.

She moved to Houston from Jacksonville, Fla., where she worked for KPRC's sister station, WJXT TV. Her career has also taken her to Minneapolis, where she worked at WFTC TV.

But Lauren began her career in Texas, which is her home state.

Lauren is a Baylor Bear at heart. She is the fourth generation in her family to attend the university. While studying communications in Waco, she also began her television career as an editor at KXXV. She eventually moved on to KWTX to report, and KCEN -- also in Waco -- to anchor the morning show.

Lauren Freeman: Childress Cheerleader

It's been said what one loves as a child, one will always love. Growing up in Childress, Texas, Lauren would often watch "20/20." It was that program that made her realize she had to get into the news business. She was mesmerized by stories about people in desperate situations. From Jessica McClure stuck in a well in West Texas to orphans in Romania, writing about moving events came naturally at a young age. Looking out at the cotton fields behind her home, Lauren would write stories about what she had seen on the news. It was then that the journalist was born.

When Lauren isn't working, one will find her running, swimming, snow skiing, painting or making jewelry. However, her favorite hobbies are laughing and shopping. She also is the proud owner of a Maltese named Marley.

Lauren is thrilled to be back in Texas, a place she calls home.
