Randy McIlvoy

Randy McIlvoy is a native Houstonian and returned to his hometown to join KPRC Local 2 as Sports Director and anchor in 2004.

Randy graduated from Bellaire High School in 1985, and then went on to Sam Houston State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree.

McIlvoy's career began in 1989 with stops in Port Arthur, Beaumont and Dallas before arriving at KPRC. He is honored to say that throughout his two decades of broadcasting, he's had the privilege of covering Houston sports.

"I've been fortunate in that I've never left Texas and was in Houston all of the time covering the local teams. I was even around when Jeff Bagwell first arrived in Houston," Randy said. "From the Astros, Oilers, Rockets to the Texans I have really experienced it all. Now I'm here every day to soak it all in. It's been an amazing run."

He moved back to Houston from Dallas, where he spent six years covering the Big 12 Conference, high school sports and every professional team in the region as a lead anchor for Fox Sports Net's Southwest Sports Report.

Randy is a two-time Emmy Award winner for top sportscaster in Texas in 2003 and 2004. Overall, he's been an Emmy Award nominee five times, including 2006 for his work on Sports Sunday where he was a statewide runner-up and the only Houston sports anchor to be honored. Randy is also a four-time winner of the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters award for Best Sportscast including 2007 for KPRC Local 2.

You can watch Randy on KPRC Local 2 Sports at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. as well as being a network reporter for NBC's Football Night in America each fall.

Randy also appears occasionally as an announcer, analyst and sideline reporter for FSN football telecasts and on Local Houston Sportstalk radio where he hosts a college and high school football show on ESPN 97.5 The Ticket. Randy is also editor at-large of VYPE High School Sports The Magazine in Houston.

"I pinch myself every day. This is the best job in America. I believe in hard work and getting the stories right and with some luck getting them first," Randy said.

Randy and his wife, Tammy, have two daughters, Courtney and Keely.

Randy and his family are active with their church community. You'll also see him out and about often speaking to local youth and men's groups. Randy also serves on the school board for Logos Prep Academy in Sugar Land, the area's first University Model School.
