Texans' Antonio Smith's appeal denied by NFL

HOUSTON – The NFL has denied Houston Texans defensive end Antonio Smith's appeal of his three-game suspension.

Because his appeal was denied, Smith will miss the remaining two preseason games and the team's regular season opener at San Diego on September 9.

The league suspended Smith for ripping the helmet off of Richie Incognito and swinging it at the Miami Dolphins offensive lineman's head during the Texans' 24-17 preseason win on August 17.

Smith will lose more than $350,000.00 in salary from the missed playing time.
