The women of the United States entered the Olympic Arena poised for a stellar evening and really their toughest competition was themselves.

At the vault, Simone Biles nailed it for a score of 16.1.

Gabby Douglas was rock solid on the uneven bars. Even with a stumble on balance beam, Aly Raisman managed to advance to the all-around.

It was Biles' stellar performance  on the beam that sealed a dominant night for the American women.

They took the lead over China by 10 points.

Biles stands comfortably in the top spot heading into the all-around.

Douglas ended up in third, but only the top two move on.

Turning to the men's team, Chris Brooks and Team USA men's gymnastics compete Monday night in the team final.
