Mayor declares Friday 'Dynamo Day'

HOUSTON – The mayor is encouraging Houston residents to wear orange on Friday in support of the Houston Dynamo.

Houston Mayor Annise Parker and the Houston Dynamo have declared Friday as "Dynamo Day." The city and the Dynamo said they're hoping for an "orange Friday" across the Houston area to set the tone for the next home game against Sporting Kansas City on Sunday.

The game is an Eastern Conference semifinal game.

On Sunday, fans can get ready for the game at Orange Avenue, which is at the corner of Rusk and St. Emanuel Street. That's near the southwest corner of the BBVA Compass Stadium. Orange Avenue is the official pregame area that has live music, games, drinks and food, officials said.

The game kicks off at 2:30 p.m.
