HOUSTON – The NBA hands out season awards Monday night in New York, but an honor has already come the Rockets way.

Guard Patrick Beverley has been named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team as selected by a global panel of sportswriters and broadcasters.

With this honor, Beverley becomes the fourth different player in franchise history to earn All-Defensive First Team honors and the first since Scottie Pippen in 1998-99. It is the second time Beverley has been named to an All-Defensive Team. He earned second team honors in 2013-2014.

The award comes at a time in which Beverley's name is being mentioned in potential Rockets trades.

Despite missing 15 games this past season, Beverley still ranked tied for sixth in the league in charges taken and was third among guards.

Beverley helped the Rockets rank fourth in 3-point defense as well holding opponents to 34.3 percent. The Rockets were 26-5 when holding opponents below 33.3 percent shooting from behind-the-arc this past season.
