Rockets holding second interview with Silas

Hornets assistant coach Stephen Silas has 2nd interview with Rockets

HOUSTON – Possibly headed down the home stretch with the coaching search, the Houston Rockets are having second meeting with Hornets assistant coach Stephen Silas for the position, KPRC Sports has confirmed.

The meeting will will involve owner Leslie Alexander in addition to other members of the Rockets front office.

Silas has been on an NBA bench for 16 years with assistant coaching stints in Cleveland, Washington and Golden State, and a pair of stops in Charlotte where he is currently an assistant on Steve Clifford's staff. 

Clifford previously served as an assistant coach in Houston on Jeff Van Gundy's staff from 2003-07

Silas has no previous coaching experience, although when he served as an assistant with his dad Paul on the Charlotte staff in 2012, he was acting head coach for a handful of games late in the season as on-the-job training for a future as a head coach.Â
