Swimming scandal taints final days of Olympic competition

RIO DE JANEIRO – New video shows Team USA swimmers Gunnar Bentz and UT longhorn Jack Conger landing at Miami International Airport.

Their teammate Jimmy Feigen, of San Antonio, has agreed to pay about $11,000 to avoid prosecution in Rio.

The swimming scandal surrounds gold medalist Ryan Lochte, who claims that after a night of partying, he and his teammate were robbed at gunpoint early Sunday.

Brazilian police investigated, and after surveillance video surfaced, they determined that the group actually vandalized part of a gas station, and when confronted by security, paid a small amount of cash for the damage.

Police have said they are considering charges of falsely reporting a crime and destruction of property.

The USOC has apologized to the host country.

Lochte's attorney said he is standing by his story.

Certainly an embarrassing turn of events in Rio. But, Olympic officials are trying to keep the focus on athletes still competing in these Games.
