"We had extra staff come in," said John Banks, who owns the Kolache Factory off Westheimer and Chimney Rock. "We made more than 200 more kolaches than we usually make, and I think we will go through all of them."

"I heard that they were giving away kolaches and I made a u-turn and came inside," said customer Jerri Armour.

Customers were excited about the free breakfast, and pumped up about the 6 foot 11 star center joining the "Red Nation."

"I think that we need a big man and for Dwight Howard to come he provides a strong center," said Simon Lau. "With him we can go to the championships!"

Call him what you want -- Superman, Rocket Man -- today Howard was simply "the man."
