Johnny Manziel appears in Dallas courtroom

DALLAS – Former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel appeared Tuesday in a Dallas courtroom, according to KXAS-TV.

The NBC affiliate reported that the Heisman Trophy winner’s hearing was related to a deal that he reached in connection with a domestic violence case.

Manziel’s ex-girlfriend said he hit her during a confrontation at a Dallas hotel last year.

Manziel, a Texas A&M alumnus, agreed to a deal in December that would dismiss the charges if he sought counseling and treatment within a year, according to KXAS-TV.

Dallas County Judge Roberto Cansas ordered Manziel to appear in court because he was concerned his progress was not being adequately made on the terms of his of his release in his domestic violence case, according to KXAS-TV.

Manziel ensured the judge that he is making progress and taking responsibility for his life and situation, according to KXAS-TV. Maziel and Cansas ended the court session on the same page.
