The Winnipeg Jets signed forward Nikolaj Ehlers to a three-year contract. The deal is worth an annual average of $1.625 million, according to NHL.com.

Ehlers, 18, was the ninth overall pick in the 2014 NFL Entry Draft after scoring 49 goals and 104 points in 63 games with the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 2013-14.

The Aalborg, Denmark native was named the QMJHL's Rookie of the Year.
