Tiger Woods had Vicodin, Xanax in system during DUI arrest, report says

RadarOnline.com reports that Woods is completing 28-day stint in rehab

JUPITER, Fla. – Professional golfer Tiger Woods mixed Vicodin and Xanax on Memorial Day before he was arrested on a DUI charge in Jupiter, the Palm Beach Post reported Monday.

According to an arrest report, Woods was found May 29 asleep at the wheel of his Mercedes-Benz, which was stopped in a bicycle lane in the southbound lanes of Military Trail, just south of Indian Creek Parkway, when officers arrived shortly after 2 a.m.

The car's driver's side tires were flat, the rear passenger taillight was out and there was minor damage to the bumpers.

Police said Woods "was extremely slow to answer questions, had slurred and mumbled speech," and showed signs of being impaired.

According to the report, Woods told police he was coming from Los Angeles and was on his way to Orange County, California. Woods later said he was coming from Jupiter.

Police said Woods told officers he didn't have anything to drink and hadn't taken any illegal drugs.

The Palm Beach Post obtained an un-redacted arrest report Monday from Jupiter police that said Woods told officers that he had taken medication that were prescribed to him, including Xanax and Vicodin.

The 41-year-old golfer, who has a home on Jupiter Island, released a statement after his arrest saying that he had "an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications."

The FDA issued an advisory last August, warning of the "serious risks" and  possibility of death from combining opioid medicines, such as Vicodin, with benzodiazepines, such as Xanax.

Police said Woods took two breath tests -- each recording 0.000 percent -- and provided a urine sample.

Woods was booked into a Palm Beach County jail and later released on his own recognizance.

Woods has undergone multiple back surgeries and hasn't played competitive golf since February.

RadarOnline.com reported Monday that Woods is going to rehab for 28 days to retain joint custody of his daughter, Sam, 9, and his son, Charlie, 8.

The news outlet reported that Woods reserved the entire male inpatient unit at the Jupiter Medical Center.
