Fan dies in 60-foot fall after Texans vs. Broncos game

DENVERA man died after he fell about 60 feet at the Denver Broncos’ stadium after a game on Monday night.

The incident happened at the north end of Sports Authority Field at Mile High after the football game between the Houston Texans and the Denver Broncos.

According to Denver police, the fan, identified by the medical examiner as 36-year-old Jason Coy, of Colorado, was sitting on a railing just before he fell.

Coy was taken to Denver Health Medical Center, where he later died.

The medical examiner said Coy died from blunt-force injuries.

Police said they are still investigating Coy’s death.

The Denver Broncos' organization released the following statement regarding the incident:

“The Denver Broncos are extremely saddened to learn that Jason Coy, the fan who fell over a stairwell railing at Monday night’s game, has passed away. Along with Stadium Management Company, we extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to his family and friends.

“Providing a safe, enjoyable environment for guests at Sports Authority Field at Mile High is the top priority for the Broncos and SMC. We’re reviewing this tragic incident and will continue to maintain all necessary safety measures for our fans.”
