It used to be Washington's birthday and somewhere down the line, all the President's get today off. No mail, No bank, No state or city business.
However, you can get deals on sheets, cars, and in Houston there is the always present Mattress sale. No city needs bedding more than we do. It is also the sports time of year we will almost keep track of college basketball scores. Almost, but not quite. The NBA is through it's All Star weekend. Fashion usually takes a hit and the slam dunk thing is in bad need of an overhaul. In fact, you could say it's A SLAM DUNK THEY NEED TO FIX THE SLAM DUNK.
For one thing the best Slams have always come in games. Put a defender on these dudes and let them slam over and around someone trying to play defense. I say "trying" because defense doesn't happen at all until the playoffs. Commish Silver (the same name as the Lone Ranger's horse) has to ask for a change. Saturday was awful. The guy who missed the least was the winner. Please. No props, no drones, no guys jumping over cheerleaders, or cars, or any other stuff that doesn't belong in a real game.
I have to agree with what Shaq said. Get the big money stars back in the contest. If you have to explain or introduce guys for the first time I don't want to watch. Make it worth while the effort for guys like Westbrook and Harden. Let's say the winner gets a date with a Kardashian. Oops, I forgot. All the guys have done that.
