Daily Craig: The pressure is now off

HOUSTONThe pressure is off

Once the locals were eliminated from the NBA playoffs, I didn't' care which teams got into the finals and eventually won the crown. Then I thought, what the heck, I will watch Golden State. Their fans are spoiled. The team runs, guns, and has funs. OK, fun. It isn't just the Curry kid.

The team is solid and so is coach Steve Kerr. His helper, son of Bill Walton, is soon to be the Lakers coach, except it doesn't look as if that will be any time soon.

Hard to imagine Luke is gonna coach the Lakers. My son and Luke were at a frat party at the University of Arizona when both were students there. I can only assume he'll call my kid to be an assistant. Of course I then watched Oklahoma City beat the Warriors in Game 1. There are few upsets in the NBA. That was one. Their fans did the unexpected. They left the gym early when OKC went up six with just a few ticks left. There must have been Thunder.

The Rockets haven't picked a coach as yet, but word was Kenny Smith was out of the running. That is good for fans of the NBA who are also fans of TNT. I can't imagine watching Chuck mix it up with some one other than The Jet in the next 10 seasons or so. I can see the Rockets bringing back JVG because he is way ahead of the guys ESPN throws in to help him.

On a final non-basketball note, how about a three game sweep for the Astros in Chicago? OK, I should stick to the NBA upsets.
