Daily Craig: Pass the horseradish

It is the day after and we are taking down the Peyton Manning tree. After 18 seasons the tree has to be retired. It was a good tree and often it was a great tree. Yep,  every football fan knew the guy the tree was named for was done with the NF-HELL.  2 Super Bowl rings and hundreds of TD THROWS he'll stay in Denver with his wife and twin sons. Maybe those kids will ask if they can play football or perhaps just run the PIZZA FRANCHISES.

I was thinking of my own personal experience with Manning and then realized I DIDN'T HAVE ANY.  I can't count group news conferences or me sticking a mic into a gaggle of other mics as personal. I know his dad and we did have a couple of one on one sit downs. Archie was here one year with the Oilers and had one of the great TD PLAYS in franchise history. Google it.

As I DRIFT INTO my 3rd paragraph I now realize I do have A Peyton story. His voice cracked several times yesterday as he talked about things and people he'll miss. "I will miss steaks at St.Elmo's in Indy after a win" I miss those steaks too and I especially miss the home made horseradish. It will bring tears every time. I miss not telling my pals at the table how strong it is.

He also said he missed opposing coaches and the first mentioned was Jeff Fisher. I was the host of Jeff's TV show on ch. 2 the last 2 years the Oilers were in Houston. Gosh, I take it all back, I do have Manning Memories, BUT. I WILL MOSTLY MISS his screaming out,  "Omaha, Omaha". If any one else does that they are just pretenders.
