Daily Craig: It doesn't matter for Coogs

HOUSTON – Good luck to the Coogs as they play their last game under coach Tom Herman. As I have said all through the "will he or won't he?" season, the coach at UH will move east to Red Stick.

Today is the swan song for the guy who brought the UH program back to life. It isn't the money we are told. No, but that sure is a factor. Tilman Fertitta said just a couple of days ago "If Tom Herman leaves, it won't be because of the money. We want to sit down with him to re structure his deal." Scratch that meeting off your schedule. Tom can still vacation at Tilman's casino in Lake Charles but his room and board will be paid by the Bengal tigers.

Even as the interim guy was trying his best to beat the Aggies last night, Herman was checking out the guys he would inherit. So Coogs, give it your all vs. Memphis, but it doesn't matter. Win or lose your coach will be hugging others next season.

Also, happy birthday to my daughter in Georgia. Kasey could be the smartest college fan in the SEC. She told my over one year ago, the Texans should look at the QB from Mississippi State, Dak Prescott. Once you see Dak, you can't go back. Happy Birthday, kid. You were right. However, the wrong Texas team got him.
