Daily Craig: Baseball has a problem

As we are about to enter the month of July, the sport that goes with Mom and Apple Pie has a problem. It's not about PED'S or Betting or players secretly liking football better. Nope, Baseball is close to the All Star Break and there are NO PENNANT RACES.  NONE. Despite the Astros success of late they haven't put a dent in the RANGERS LEAD. It isn't just our newly adored AL WEST. The six divisions in both leagues are blow outs.

Baltimore has a six game lead over Boston. The Indians think they are the CAVS leading KC by six. The National league is in the same boat. The Cubs lead the Cards by almost a dozen and Pittsbugh by 14. HOW ABOUT THE EAST? Mets can't catch the Nats and the Giants are six better than the Dodgers. For those who believe the real contenders show their stuff AFTER THE BREAK, you have six chances to be right.

Of course, if everything stays as it is for the next few months we will all ONLY be keeping track of the WILD CARDS. You wonder how baseball survived in the days when the only playoff was the World Series. In those days Cubs fans never had to sweat it out and the Rangers didn't exist.
