Daily Craig: All Star Break update

It is the All Star break and the Astros find themselves in the same spot they were last year at this time. The LOCALS ARE 7 OVER 500.  They won yesterday to get to the 48-41 record and made up some ground on the RANGERS. Houston is 5 half behind in the A.L. West and that is a good thing. It could easily be worse.

So on to SAN DIEGO for Jose and Will Harris. They should have fun as Harris picked up a win yesterday and Jose is doing what he usually does. The All Star business started in 1933 and has been popular ever since. No game was played in 1945 due to WWII travel restrictions. Two games were played in '59 through '62 but none of us can remember why.

I do know in 1957 THE CINCINNATI FANS stuffed ballots in the local paper so 7 Reds were voted as starters. Only Stan the Man of ST.LOUIS managed to beat the ballot stuffing. The Commish threw out 2 of the starters and warned Cincy he would ban Chili IF THEY KEPT UP THE STUFFING. He also said any announcer not calling the game the MIDSUMMER CLASSIC would be banned for life.

San Diego is the host tomorrow and although the Padres are clearly in the NATIONAL LEAGUE the NL will not be the home team. The American League is the home team because with Miami hosting next year it would be 3 years in a row the NL got the home park, so this time IT'S THE ASTROS 2 GUYS in the home whites. With Miami hosting next year only Washington and Tampa Bay have yet to get an ALL STAR GAME. I get the NATS are still kind of new, and but have you seen that DUMP THE RAYS PLAY IN?
