UH football recruit accused of having sex with girl, 14

Deondre Skinner had 9 offers from schools before signing with UH

HOUSTON – The future of a valuable University of Houston football recruit is up in the air after accusations he had sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Deondre Demarcus Skinner, 19, is supposed to move from Louisiana to Houston in the fall after being recruited to fill a gap in the U of H offense.

Now it's not clear if the tight end will still have a spot on the team.

Skinner was arrested Tuesday on a warrant for felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile. The arrest was made in Patterson, about 90 miles west of New Orleans. According to detectives, Skinner had sex with a 14-year-old girl in a home in Patterson on multiple occasions.

Skinner was booked in jail and is now out on bond.

UH issued the following statement Wednesday night:

"We are aware of the situation and are currently gathering details. The University of Houston Department of Athletics takes these allegations very seriously and would never condone acts like these if true. Until we are able to gather more information, we will offer no further comment."

Skinner had nine offers from schools before signing with UH in January.
