Astros to honor Fallen Firefighters
Astros will wear a special patch on homestand
During the upcoming homestand, the Astros will honor the courageous Houston firefighters whose lives were lost during Friday’s tragic fire.
The Astros players will wear a special patch on their uniforms in honor of the firefighters for all three games this week vs. the Baltimore Orioles (June 4-6). Additionally, Tuesday’s pregame ceremony will include a moment of silence as well as the Houston Fire Department Honor Guard and Houston Pipe and Drum Band. The Astros will fly flags at half-staff at Minute Maid Park this week.
The Astros are also offering free tickets for this week’s games (June 4-6) for local and national firefighters and their immediate family members at the Minute Maid Park Box Office (with firefighter ID).
In addition to those lost in the blaze, 13 others were hospitalized in what the Houston Fire Department called the most deadly fire in its 118-year history.
“Our prayers go out to the families and friends of the firefighters who lost their lives or were injured in last week’s tragedy,” said Astros President Reid Ryan. “We all owe a debt of gratitude to all of our firefighters, who risk their lives to keep others safe.”
