Astros' prospect Alex Bregman excels at Triple A

HOUSTON – Only one rung in the ladder remains for Astros' top prospect Alex Bregman to climb.

Their top pick last season, his two weeks with the Astros Triple A team in Fresno has been fantastic.

One thing that Bregman has said that's helped him as a professional is focusing on where he is, not where he might be going.

"That's one of the big things, I've had told to me," Bregman said. "Keep your head where your feet are. Don't let your head leave Fresno if you're in Fresno."

And what have the Astros told Bregman about their thinking?

"They told me to keep doing you and keep staying within yourself," Bregman said. "They said keep trying to get better and good things will happen."

With a top prospect who's excelled at every level, dropping the word "special" on Bregman is something his manager and teammates are unafraid to do.

"He's very special. I had Carlos Correa for 100 at-bats. He's just like that," Grizzlies manager Tony DeFrancesco said.

"When you're drafted No. 2 overall, that's what you get,"  Grizzlies teammate Tony Kemp said.
