The Woodlands (Texas) running back Daniel Lasco is preparing for his Senior season but has made his college choice, verbally committing to the Cal-Berkley Bears on Sunday
The highly-coveted back took a West Coast swing last week, which proved fruitful for the Bears coaching staff. After visiting Cal, he went down the coast to UCLA, but it was the Bears that won out.
?When Daniel was there he was excited about the campus and their program. But what stood out was how their coaches are focused on education,? Woodlands coach Mark Schmid told VYPE Magazine Editor and Rivals.com's Matt Malatesta Tuesday.
?They also sold the fact that Cal has the most active running backs in the NFL today.?
As Lasco enters his senior season with the Highlanders, his focus now can be leading his team toward a playoff run. After graduation, his talent will have room to develop and grow.
?They want him to play his freshman year as a return specialist. That?s what they?ve done with previous top backs,? Schmid said. ?He feels like he?ll get the opportunity to be starting back as a sophomore if he proves himself.?
