Named the AP’s 3A Defensive Player of the Year for coach Bob Gillis while leading El Campo to the 3-A Division I State Championship game… Earned consensus All-State honors as well as earning a spot on Max Preps Medium School High School All America Team… Joined teammate and fellow Rice signee Trey Martin to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football’s All Texas High School second team at the conclusion of the season… Had been named one of DCTF’s Top 10 Tight Ends heading into his senior year…  Also named All Greater Houston and Victoria-area MVP… Member of the National Honor Society  and a four-time Academic All District selection… Junior Ambassador of the Chamber of Commerce, FCA and Interact and was the Elks Student of the Month.

All-District 23-4A as a senior for coach Ricky Tullos in the Longhorns first season of varsity competition… Led team to a 5-5 finish… Three-year letterman in wrestling, finishing as the district runner-up as a junior… Played rugby on the club level with the Katy Barbarians and was a member of the USA High School All American team that competed internationally in South Africa and Argentina last summer… National Honor Society member.

All-State selection while teaming with fellow Owl signee Cole Hunt to lead El Campo to the 3-A Division 1 State Championship game under coach Bob Gillis...  Joined teammate and fellow Rice signee Cole Hunt to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football’s All Texas High School second team at the conclusion of the season… Earned All-District 25-3A honors on both offense and defense as well as Victoria Area Lineman of the Year and second-team All-Greater Houston… Credited with 81 pancake blocks and did not allow a sack as a senior… Credited with 64 tackles and five sacks on defense… Academic All-District selection.

Bailiff on Martin: “A dominating blocker who led his team in knockdowns and dominated on both sides of the ball.”

 

Graysen Schantz      DE          6-3       240               Hickory Creek, TX  (Lake Dallas)

Defensive MVP of District 5-4A as a senior for coach Mike Young at Lake Dallas HS…. All-State honorable mention selection and a finalist for the Dallas-Ft. Worth First Down Club Defensive Player of the Year… Credited with 65 tackles as senior, including 20 for loss (17 sacks) as well as 40 quarterback hurries and three blocked kicks… Finished his career with 150 tackles, including 42 for loss (30 sacks) and 100 hurries… Earned Defensive Newcomer of the Year as a junior… Honorable Mention Academic All State honoree.

Parker Smith           WR         6-1       190               Richmond, TX (Travis)

All-District 23-5A  and All Region III selection as a senior for coach Randy Cunningham at Travis HS as both a wide receiver and punter…. Led team to the Region III championship game…. Finished his career with 80 receptions for 1,456 yards and 12 touchdowns, including 45 for 1,006 and nine scores as a senior… Father (Bobby) played football and baseball at Louisiana Tech, brother (Conner)is currently a quarterback at Colorado State… Academic All-State second team selection.

Second team All-District 19-5A selection at quarterback as a senior for coach Don Clayton at Cinco Ranch, which has produced a number of current Owls including LB James Radcliff and DE Tanner Leland…  A member of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football’s Top 300 as an athlete… Named to the The Houston Chronicle’s Top 100…Threw for nearly 1,500 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior while setting a school record for completion percentage (66.5%)  and over 3,000 yards and 29 TDs in two seasons… Also credited with 91 tackles on defense… Team captain as a senior… Academic All State and Academic All District selection… Elected to the Superintendent’s Round Table and received the school’s Outstanding Academic Achievement Award… Member of the National Honor Society and volunteers with Katy Christian Ministries.  Bailiff on Thomas: ”Great athlete who runs 4.4 in the 40 and 3.9 in the pro shuttle.”

Two-time All District 17-5A selection and a three-year starter for coach Todd Thompson at Langham Creek HS…. Led team to district title as a senior… Honorable mention All-State honoree… Tabbed by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Top 300 as one of the top 30 line prospects heading into 2012… Named to the The Houston Chronicle’s Top 100..  Eagle Scout.   Bailiff on Thompson: “Strong, dominating lineman who finishes his blocks and shows his athleticism by being one of the top shot putters in the area.”

 

Nick Uretsky            LB           6-0       215               San Antonio, TX (Alamo Heights)

All-State, All-Area and District 27-4A Defensive MVP selection as a senior for coach Mike Norment  in his final season at Alamo Heights, which also produced former Rice standout Chase Clement … Credited with 182 tackles as a senior while leading the Mules to an 8-3 record…. Credited with 454 tackles in his career… Also ran track and a member of the Mules’ 4x100 relay that was a regional finalist and was named team captain… National Hispanic Merit Scholar and an Eagle Scout… A member of Young Life and FCA.

Bailiff on Uretsky: “Physical linebacker who plays downhill with great instincts.  He’s a natural tackler who makes plays all over the field.”
