Headed out in a few short minutes to the airport for my flight to Ottawa. Reports from Rangers’ practice today indicate that Rick Nash (along with Aaron Asham) are not on the ice. The Rangers have announced Nash will not accompany the team to Ottawa this afternoon for tomorrow night’s game against the Senators but could join the Rangers for Saturday night’s game in Montreal. Nash did not play in the Rangers’ 3-1 loss to the Canadiens at the Madison Square Garden after he played 22:33 in Sunday’s 2-1 win over the Capitals. Nash was considered questionable prior to Sunday’s game and the Rangers are being cagey about what Nash’s issue really is. That has led to plenty of speculation that Nash is suffering from concussion symptoms after having his head driven into the boards by the Bruins’ Milan Lucic in the third period of the Rangers 4-3 shootout win at Boston on Feb. 12. Nash did play in the subsequent two games, including Sunday, though he missed a scheduled appearance at a Rangers’ season-ticket subscriber event at the Beacon Theater on Friday, with fans being told he was sick. Defenseman Dan Girardi was a late substitution for Nash at the event. The other train of thought is that the nagging groin issues Nash suffered from while playing for HC Davos in Switzerland during the NHL lockout have resurfaced. Nash was not confirmed as in the lineup for Sunday’s game until he tested - what, we’re not sure - something during warmups.
Nash not practicing, won’t go to Ottawa Thursday
