Clemens, Skeeters set Sept. 7 for 2nd start
Clemens will make 2nd start with Skeeters
The Skeeters have announced that Roger Clemens will make his 2nd start with the team on Friday, September 7. KPRC-TV first reported that was the date both sides were eyeing on Tuesday.
Clemens confirmed the date and again on Thursday morning in a text to KPRC Local 2 Sports indicated September 7 was a go but at the time thought he would likely re-confirm once he returned to Houston on Saturday. While that may still be the case, Clemens reacted Thursday to his decision.
"My first start with the Skeeters was a great deal of fun," said Clemens. " There was lots of excitement in the air. I am looking forward to doing it again on September 7. Stay tuned, I might have a few more surprises to come with the Skeeters."
Clemens made his debut last Saturday and pitched 3 1/3 innings, striking out two in a 37-pitch effort for the Skeeters.
After his debut, Clemens was happy with the way he pitched and did not rule out a return to Sugar Land.
The Astros also had a scout on hand to watch Clemens pitch. A potential September signing, if all goes well and if approved by MLB, remains an option but the Astros are not commenting on the process.
Skeeters President Matt O'Brien , on the return of Clemens said, "We're having fun. Our inaugural season has been wildly successful already. Having Roger on the club has been nothing short of outstanding for the players, the fans, the Atlantic League and the Skeeters."
