Jim Crane begins Astros Ownership Era

After 19 years, the Drayton McLane era is officially over.  Tuesday, McLane wrapped up his tenure and left behind a letter and bottle of champagne for new owner Jim Crane.

The Houston businessman and his staff moved into their new offices Tuesday afternoon once the deal was done and bank transfer completed.

 

"Drayton did a great job here and the people loved him," Crane said an interview inside of his new Minute Maid Park office.  "But now they are excited , we are excited to get to work."

 

Crane and new CEO George Postolos will reconvene following the Thanksgiving Day holiday and make decisions on key baseball operations personall including GM Ed Wade and President of Baseball Operations Tal Smith.

 

Crane has not indicated what direction he will go.

 

Crane bought the team for 610 million after receiving a price reduction prior to the final approval by MLB owners last week in Milwaukee after the Astros agreed to move to the American League in 2013. .  The original sale price was 680 million.
