HOUSTON -- Many people were upset when Galveston football team was disqualified from the state high school playoffs, but police said one man was so angry that he threatened to kill, KPRC Local 2 reported Tuesday.
Fabian Lewis, the Texas City man accused of threatening the lives of the Galveston Ball High School's Athletic Director Brent Jaco and former athletic director Sandra Mader, was arrested and charged with two counts of making terroristic threats on Monday.
Jaco was the focus of much criticism after the Tornados football team missed the playoffs because the district reported an ineligible player had been on the team's roster for the entire season.
The ineligible player had not lived in the district long enough to make him eligible to play on the school's 2005 team. The discovery was made after the team advanced to the playoffs with an 8-2 record, causing them to forfeit their season and lose their spot in the playoffs.
Lewis, 38, posted $20,000 bond was released from jail Monday afternoon. His connection to the school's football team remains under investigation
