HOUSTON -- Roger Clemens is one of the most successful pitchers of all time, and now the Rocket is getting credit for taking his hometown team to the World Series. But while he does his job on the mound, his wife also has a role in the series, KPRC Local 2 reported Tuesday.
Debbie Clemens is a designer and she's come up with some creative products for Astros fans. But it's not just about giving Houstonians a way to support their team. Her ultimate goal is to help others.
"All the girls are wanting rhinestones -- more and more and more," she said.
Debbie Clemens is determined to give them what they want. All it takes is a small army of her friends and die-hard Astros fans.
"We have plenty of Astros hats, if you want that, but the hot item seems to be the World Series," she said.
Hats and jackets are not the only things up Debbie's sleeve. She designed and created gifts for the wives of the World Series teams -- special makeup bags and bracelets.
"These bracelets were really fun. You can put your message inside and there's a picture frame so you can put a picture from the series in there also. We thought that would be kind of special," she said.
It is customary for the wives in the playoffs and World Series to exchange gifts. The White Sox wives gave the Astros wives baseball key chains from Tiffany's.
The Clemens Foundation office is filled with special items for Astros fans looking to celebrate the team's first trip to the World Series.
While visiting the office, KPRC's Linda Lorelle ran into actor Robert Wahl, best known as "Arliss," as he shopped for his wife.
"She wanted one of these pink hats," Wahl said.
He is looking forward to an Astros win and seeing his buddy, Roger Clemens, healthy again.
"It's very exciting, looking for a great game. I hope he's feeling well and can get back on the mound," Wahl said.
"He's working on it. He's going to give it everything he has. So I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed and the doctors are doing what they have to do and I think he's a strong guy, so let's just see what happens," Debbie Clemens said.
Debbie Clemens has had her clothing line called "Jacket Happy" for more than a year and business is booming.
Proceeds from all the items purchased from
